There is nothing like a reunion of family and friends that incorporates a paranormal investigation. This year we opted for the R Theater located in the heart of the Auburn historic business district. Construction of this family owned Cinema began around 1946 and was open for the movie going public in 1947. During its heyday it had seating for over 500 people, but since its closing, has gone through a vast amount of renovation. It is now utilized as an insurance business and residential home for the owners Robbin and Norma Terry, who opted to retain a small portion as a theater.
Over the years there have been paranormal events on this property. It is believed that a little girl, a woman, a male with respiratory issues and ghost cat roam the site. The owners have graciously allowed paranormal enthusiast to explore the building, donating all the proceeds to the Lost Limbs Foundation.
Norma kindly took us through the building and filled us in on the history. After the tour, the ten of us opted to break up into small groups. Dave, our fearful…(darn auto correct!) I mean fearless leader spent time interacting with each of the groups. By the end of the night, all of the teams had some sort of experience they could recount about that evening.
The first group included our friends Beth, Pam, Patty and Casey. While they were utilizing the Dowsing rods and the EMF detector in the basement they had a lot of interaction with some unseen entities. At one point they heard other voices talking near them.
The second group comprised our Texas CAPS clan Mark and Angel and our Florida CAPS family member Lydia. While they were sitting in the auditorium, Angel saw a person with a big head sitting alone in the corner. I think it is safe to say that is everybody’s fear that they may encounter a big head in a movie theater!
The third group was just Trish and me. We were sitting in one of the converted bedrooms with a REM-pod. After sitting quietly for over half an hour, Trish and I heard an odd noise near us followed by the sound of running, like the pitter patter of little feet. As she sat on the edge of the bed, Trish said she was feeling something “Weird”. I decided to move closer from the nearby chair, and suddenly felt an intense deep cold over me. At that point, the REM-pod started going crazy. It seemed to respond to our questions for a good 20 minutes until it stopped as suddenly as it began.
It was a great CAPS Family reunion and as far as evidence goes, we ended up with some interesting EVPs. It’s safe to say that we all agreed the basement seemed the most active zone, but then again creepy basements usually are…. and sometimes it’s not always just in our heads! I can’t help but wonder where will our next family reunion take us?

This is a section of the basement.

The theater room, quite the audience!

The theater room with a haunted seat! Wonder which one it is?

Creepy basement! Glad mine doesn't look like this one!
EVPs
While in the basement, Dave hears a whisper and sure enough he was right! I'm pretty sure it is saying "shut up"!
Taken in the basement via digital voice recorder. Just before the 2 second mark a voice is heard. We are not sure if it says "Patient", " Patience" or maybe "want to taste". What do you think?
From the basement area, just after an investigator laughs, a child is heard saying "Leave".
Before Mark says " maybe should put Ovilus by it", around 4 seconds a voice chimes in to say "Why".
